Allison and Jared’s wedding was so emotional and sweet, I literally cried about five different times capturing their day. Part of it was because I’ve known Allison since she was young. She was a lifeguard at our subdivision pool, and her mom was a teacher to my kiddos at Science Hill. She’s sweet and quiet and really laid-back.

She and Jared met at Western Kentucky University, even though they both grew up in Somerset. They are both still students, with Jared working toward becoming an estimator and Allison planning on attending grad school to become a behavioral analyst for children on the autism spectrum.

Jared first asked Allison out on an ice cream date, which ended up lasting five hours. Wow! After that, they were joined at the hip and got engaged when Jared kneeled down by a waterfall at a botanical garden and proposed. So romantic! A year and a half later, here we were upstairs and in back rooms of Oak Hill Baptist Church taking pictures of everyone getting ready.

Jared didn’t want to see Allison before the wedding, but they were still together before the ceremony. They each stood with their backs against either side of a pillar and held hands and prayed together. Jared looked handsome in his tux and Allison’s dress was simple and perfect. Her flower crown was so gorgeous!

Allison did do First Looks with her dad, her bridesmaids and her grandparents. Talk about tears! Her dad was crying, calling her “my baby” while he hugged her, and Allison nearly bawled in her grandparents’ arms. So very sweet. Everyone just kept saying, “Happy thoughts, happy emotions,” after someone would tear up. Ha!

When it came time for the ceremony, Jared was the one who teared up when he saw Allison. They seem crazy about each other.

The reception took place in Russell Springs at The Barn at Goose Creek, which was lit up beautifully with golden lights. The evening was also really clear, so we got some great shots of just Allison and Jared together outside. There was dancing — Allison loves to dance, though it’s not really Jared’s thing — and the night ended with a send-off with sparklers.

I am so thankful I got to be part of this special day. Allison and Jared, I wish you so much happiness in the future!
