Kendra + Ross
married Sept. 14, 2019
A wedding by the water is always so special, and Kendra and Ross’s big day was no exception. This sweet couple said their I Dos on property Kendra’s family owns that overlooks Lake Cumberland. There were about 75 people there, with a shimmering view of Conley Bottom Marina in the distance. Talk about making my work easy!
Kendra and Ross come from super-close families, and, earlier in the day, we did a First Look with Kendra’s mom and dad. When she walked out in her dress, they turned around and immediately started crying. It was a really sweet moment.
The actual ceremony was also heartfelt and beautiful. In AUGUST, I did Kendra and Ross’s engagement shoot, and they told me then that their beloved golden retriever Remi was going to be part of the ceremony. After Kendra appeared at the end of the aisle on her dad’s arm, Remi approached them and took the ring box from her dad and carried it to the alter. What a neat touch and what a smart dog! Everyone loved that part.
The reception was at Kendra’s parents’ farmhouse — which had an upstairs balcony that ringed above the whole living area below — and everything had been decorated by their families. They set up the dance floor in the garage, which was done up with lanterns and drapery and looked amazing. That dance floor stayed busy — the bridal party kept dancing until literally the D.J. left. Ha! They were a fun group.
Outside, they had a bonfire, complete with s’mores, and they also served a popcorn bar (fun!) and good, down home barbecue from Sonny’s.
We incorporated a new feature in this shoot that ended up being a big hit. At Kendra’s request, every picture I took showed up on a big screen that we moved around as the wedding progressed. My camera has WIFI so I was able to link to my iPad, which we linked to the screen. So when I took pictures, they would flash up on the screen and everyone could see them. Kendra said it was so neat to look back at her pictures after everyone had gone home.
The night ended with everyone holding sparklers as Kendra and Ross made their exit. It was the perfect end to a perfect, sweet day. Thanks, Kendra and Ross, for letting me be part of it.
