Imagine a sunset out on the lake, with pinks and oranges splashed across the sky. Add a gorgeous rose-gold dress, a bottle of champagne, handfuls of confetti. Ross and Kendra, one of the cutest couples I’ve met.
All of it makes for the most amazing engagement photoshoot.
I first met Kendra, who is from nearby Nancy, a few years ago when she was a lifeguard at a local pool. My son Finn was too little to go down the slide, but she made a sweet exception for him, and we’ve followed each other on Facebook ever since. When she asked me to do her engagement and wedding photos, I immediately said yes.
Ross and Kendra are just sweet, down-to-earth people with very successful careers in Pulaski County. They live on Lake Cumberland and, we quickly learned, are big animal lovers. The first time my assistant Becca and I went to their house, we were greeted by a bunch of chickens, roosters and even a goat. We also met their adorable golden retriever Remi, who they love completely and even has a role in their wedding.
The first time we tried to do the engagement shoot, a rainstorm came out of nowhere and we all hid in the cabin of their boat, which they named “The Lucky One.” When I asked about the meaning of the name, they told me that, since they’ve known each other, Kendra has told Ross that she’s the lucky one for finding him. In turn, Ross has insisted that he’s the lucky one for having found her. So, when it came to naming their boat, they knew exactly what it should be called.
I love that story.
Anyway, last Wednesday, the weather was perfect, and we got some incredible shots. Shooting at the lake is always fun, but it was extra special since Ross and Kendra’s wedding and reception will overlook Lake Cumberland too. I can’t wait for their special day, which is in less than two weeks now. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the shots of their special engagement shoot.
